We are a Canadian Community of Egyptians and EGYPT LOVERS in BC.
The Egyptian Canadian Cultural Society of BC, ECCS-BC, is a dynamic non-profit organization gathering and serving all BC resident Egyptians and all BC’ían individuals and groups who have genuine interest in the Egyptian Mosaic Culture, Traditions, History and Future. We aim to connect, develop, support and promote interests of all our members and friends.
The first General Assembly meeting was held on October 6, 1979, approving to name the newly born association then as “The Egyptian Canadian Society“, and was then registered in Victoria under number 15346.
First Board members were: Ahmed Farid Fadl, Mahmoud Sobhy Khalil, Abdel Salam El-Gemeei, Ragheb Ashour (founding members), with Mahasen Hassan and Abdallah Sedky.
On March 18, 1980, name changed to “The Nile-Fraser Egyptian Canadian Society of B.C.”, under registration number S-15346. And finally changed to our current name on March, 21st, 2011, and kept “Nile-Fraser” as the name of our newsletter.
The Society started its Egyptian Arabic School in 1983, with the first class held on September 24, 1983, with 11 students, and was held in The Pakistan Center in Vancouver.
First School Committee members then were the Pioneers: Ahmed El Neweihi, Mahmoud Sobhi Khalil, Zakaria El Ramly, Nagat El Essily and Abdel Magid Mousa.
Now The Egyptian Arabic School is back in full service to all our Members and Friends, with its site in Burnaby, BC.
